"The Four Star" Edition No. 4 - 06 July - August 2006
COMMANDER’S
CORNER Our
Post election was held on June 6th, and we have two “new” officers.
Elando Lindsey is the new Sgt. at Arms and replaces Charlie Allen who gave
up that position to become the Bingo Chairman. Our new Finance Officer is
Al Scully. As you know, the Finance Officer was vacant last year. All
other officers remain the same. The
Annual Convention of the American Legion Department of Md. is being held
July 10th to July 14th. If you can't attend, please try to visit our
“Hospitality House” at Thunder Island Condo, room 110 C for a visit.
We look forward to seeing you there. The phone is 410-524-6269. The hardest duty as a Post
Officer is when we loose one of our members. We lost a great one in June.
Comrade Ken Slarb passed on to Post Everlasting. Ken was a member of Post
217 for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Dept. of
Md. Executive Committee until his death. Ken was an OUTSTANDING example
of what an American Legion member can be. He truly stood for God and
Country. He worked tirelessly for the Community, State, and Nation. He was
a true friend of the American Legion and to Post 217. He was a great
friend to many of us a the Post and we will all miss him a great deal. Our
hearts go out to his wife Judy and to all his family and friends. We
miss you already Ken, we miss you a lot. Tom Davis Post
